How bad is it to set up and maintain a custom liquid cooling set up?

i currently have an h50 cooling my cpu but id like to be able to cool my other components. the thing thats really holding me back is how hard is it to set up a liquid system and how much maintenance is it. im also worried about leaks. i havent heard any thing about leaks but id assume its not good. id like to get away from having 8 fans running when i want to play my games or watch a movie.

well i dont need it just for my cpu i need it for every thing from my chipset,ram and gpu

Chipset = case airflow; RAM = no cooling needed. What are your full specs? If you're thinking of getting new cards, you could get PNY XLR8 580s. One is a liquid cooler for itself, and the other cools your CPU as well.

asus m5a97 evo board athlon ii 640 x4(soon to be either 1100t or fx8120) 6 gigs of ram gt520 graphics card( swaping over to crossfire box cards in a few months) 450 watt psu a wd 250hdd and its all crammed into a tt doker

There is no need for liquid cooling on such a low end setup.

well i have a bad habbit of burning out boards. i killed one just this morning lol

well i overclocked an hp i was working on and all the capacitors popped. and the vga burned out
