Double Ram

My memory (1 gb) is always close to maxed out when firefox is open. If I double my ram from 1 gb to 2 gb, would the memory usage stay below 1 gb? Or max out again near 2gb?

It's not for gaming. Just multitasking (firefox, word, excel, adobe, etc.). Running Win 7 32 bit. Thanks in advance.

Edit: My motherboard's stated max ram speed is 667. Could it possibly still utilize 800 mhz ram?

  1. No matter if it will max out or not, more memory is better for your system.
what the motherboard make and model?
  2. This one:

I'm debating buying ram or building a new rig. Would prefer the former to save money as long as it doesn't slow down regularly like now.
