My dad went out and bought RAM. I told him to get CAS 2 Micron RAM. He bought two 256mb PC133 SDRAM chips.

He says they told him it was CAS 2 RAM. I have a feeling it is CAS 3 RAM.

It says MT on it. The numbers are 48LC16M8A2 -75 B
Thats what it says on the chips. I still believe that they are CAS 3. Anyway to tell before putting them in his computer? I want to return them if they are not what they are telling me they are.

Yes I belive it is CAS 3. Look previous post (Micron question). Go to that link (Verasoft's) and you will find exact model as what I posted.

Well if it is CAS 3 then I plan on shoving it back in his face and getting a refund. I told my Dad to only buy it at Crucial.com but does he listen NOoooo. The place he bought it swears up and down that it is CAS 2 and he doesn't buy CAS 3 RAM. I find it hard to believe.

I would be more pissed at the vendors.

Especially if your dad said he asked for CL2.

I know a few stores around this area which do that crap on purpose. Although you can't prove it, you know. "They" tried to rip a friend of mine off and when we confronted the manager, we got it for 1/2 price.

And that was back in september 2000, when ram was more than double the price it is now.

Well I had my dad return the RAM to the store today. They asked him how he knows it is CAS 3 and he finally decided to listen to me and told them exactly how he knows. Last night I Emailed Micron and today they responded to tell me it was CAS 3 RAM. I ordered it from Crucial today instead.

Good; when you order from Crucial, you know what you're getting.
