Hi, I really hope I can get some help on this problem of mine, been spending many hours researching and trying things.
Here's the long (made short) story so far: I replaced my old radeon HD 5850 GPU by a Radeon HD 7870 GPU and had some troubles (artifacting + temporary blurry lines from times to times) so I returned the 7870 for another 7870. This one had better performances (didn't even have to OC it yet to be better than the returned one!) but still had the temp. blurry lines issue coming in from time to time.
I jumped to the conclusion that the software probably is my issue on this one or maybe I just need to change adapters or monitor cable to fit with a new GPU, so I figured I'd to find a software fix for my GPU first. I tried the Radeon HD beta drivers and got slightly better performances but no fix for the blurring glitch. At this point I figure running Driver Sweeper to clean up the AMD display drivers can't hurt so I uninstall everything radeon HD related, boot in safe mode, run driver sweeper, reboot in 10 seconds (as usual), reinstall radeon 7870's drivers and proceed to reboot one last time ...
... surprise, it take about 5-10 minutes to boot my computer since reinstalling the drivers. I stay stuck for 95% of this time on my UEFI BIOS screen (I have an Asus Sabertooth 990fx motherboard) and then the computer boots normally (I see a black screen, the UEFI BIOS loading screen, Windows 7 splash screen then the prompt to enter my password, all in about 10 seconds as usual). All this from, it seems, reinstalling the AMD drivers for Radeon HD 7000 series
Can anyone help on this ? Thanks in advance !
So here's my setup:
AMD PHenom II X4 3.4GHZ CPU
Asus Sabertooth 990fx mobo
8GB DDR3 memory
Radeon HD 7870 GPU
2 Harddrives, on OCZ Vortex SSD and my 2TB HDD. Windows 7 is on the SSD.
