Hi,

In my sitting room connected to 1080p tv I have a pc with a core2 6600 and 8600gts factory overclocked. I mainly use it to browse internet and play movies with some occasional gamming (realflight 5,5)

I have two issues with current setup: 1st the tv is connected throug vga connector so I need sepparate audio connection to the stereo system. I'd like to get hdmi output in the video card. 2nd noise the 8600 is quite noisy and gets quite hot even with a 120mm blowing air from outside the box.

I want a video card as cheap and quiet as possible capable of running realflight 5,5 over 40fps. I was thinking on a 6670hd is this a good choice? Any other suggestion?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Nick

The HD 6670 is the best card without a PCI express power adapter, meaning that it has modest power requirements and most oflks don't need to upgrade their PSU.

It does well at 1680X1050, but may need lowered settings for gaming at 1080p.

The $120 HD 5770/6770 is better for gaming at 1080p. As per Toms "best Graphics cards..." article:

Bottom line, I think the HD 6670 is a fine choice, although the HD 5670 may be a few bucks cheaper. I don't know how demanding that game is, but it seems like this is primarily a htpc and the 5670/6670 will do fine.

I suppose the Radeon HD 6670 can play the game without any issues. The game seems to have only modest system requirements. Is the HD 6670 capable of running the game over 40FPS? Don't know since there are no benchmarks for the game.

You can opt for the more powerful HD 6750 since it does not cost too much more than the HD 6670.

OK, thanks I'll consider the 6770 too. The performance difference with the 6670 seems to be significant...
