Your question

Combining 2x2gb with 2x4gb ddr3

November 28, 2012 12:02:34 PM

Hey guys!

I tried reading the faq for my answer and I think I understand but wanted some confirmation. I currently have G.SKILL Ripjaws (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

and recently bought G.SKILL Ripjaws 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

I currently have this motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... and was under the impression that I would be able to dual-channel 1x2gb with 1x4gb in each channel making 6gb in each.

I suppose my question is whether or not I would be able to combine the two different sets in any situation. Also, what is the best way of going about this? Would it be the dual channel 6gb in each channel?

Thanks for the help and I am sure there are other topics but I am still a newbie trying to figure everything out.
