Hello,
Would there be a considerable performance boost if we upgrade from an Intel Xeon E5410 2.33ghz server to an Intel Xeon E5504 2.0GHZ?

The clock speed of the E5410 is higher but the new E5504 has an L3 cache.

Appreciate any input.

Thanks

At the same speed the Intel® Xeon® E5500's may outperform the Intel Xeon E5400s by 15% to 20% based on the changes to the microarchitecture. So in the battle between the Intel Xeon E5410 vs the Intel Xeon E5504 at the very worst the Intel Xeon E5504 should equal the older processors performance and may better than it most of the time.

So the E5504 2.0GHZ will still outperform an E5410 with a faster clock speed of 2.33GHZ?

Thanks
