Help, new ram not working on my mobo!

I have an asrock n68c-s mobo and have just bought corsair ddr3 1600 ram, a pair of 4 gb sticks. when i installed them the pc powers on but i have a blank screen. i was under the impression the mobo could handle this. is it just not compatible or would a bios update sort it or is their an issue with my processor being an amd athlon 64 x 2 6000+??????

can't return the ram cos it's been opened, could someone enlighten me please??!!

Your CPU is an AM2 and only supports DDR-2. You need an AM3 cpu to support DDR 3.
