Im upgrading to XP. Still deciding which to upgrade to though. Home or Pro. What are the advantages to upgrading to Pro over Home? If any. Thanks.

Pro has too many advantages to list here. Just visit Micrsoft's web site. Buying the home version is like kissing your sister.

The only two advantages are encryption support and multi-processor support. I don't think it should be twice the price just for these two.

I use pro edition - I've never seen the home version yet. So far I've not had a single problem with xp - but then again I've hardly done anything with it.

I'm gonna blast it with a lot of applications and then try and see if I can brake it.

The Home and Pro look EXACTLY A LIKE expect for encryption and SMP support!!! Microsoft is ripping people off by charging twice the price fro WinXP Pro Upgrade than that of WinXP Home Upgrade. It's $99 USD for Home, $199 for Pro. That's crazy. In this day and age, who would pay $199 for an OS upgrade? That's just crazy. There are SOOOOOOOOOO few differences between the two. IMHO, Windows XP Pro is way overpriced.

I think the ability to access your system remotely will start catching on and will be a life saver. If a user is having a problem thay can allow anyone to fix it for them. Imagine customer support where an OEM just gets on your computer and fixes it instead of you sitting on the phone for 6 hours.

It might not apply to you of course but be carefull who you recommend Home to. Some people need the added features. It's of course easy for me to say since I got WinXP Pro for free.

Myself I would buy the pro. because of support for two CPU and the other stuff I probably wouldn't use. But if I ever decide to fool around with the different stuff, it's there and I tend to go over board whenever I can. It would suck though, if I went back to using Win98se in a few short days of use, like I tend to do every time I try Win2000. But, I plan too have another computer together and put XP on it, and leave 98 for fragging.

P. S. Do we really need another Form for XP? It looks like XP is hogging this one. Hehehe
