Built a pc a couple years and its really starting to show its age. Having issues with some new games. Probably build a new rig come next year but right now I'm just trying to squeeze a little more life out of it.

Little rusty with my hardware knowledge.

Computer details:
Intel q6600 Oct at 3ghz
Corsair h70 to keep it cool
8gb ddr2 ram at 1033
Ati 4870 1gb
2 wd velocraptor drives plus 1tb wd 7200 for media
psu 750
Mid tower
Win7 ultimate64nit
32 inch monitor at 1080p

I also have a 5670 low profile card that I picked up for 20 bucks that I don't like.

All in all o was thinking a upgrade to graphics card. I'm looking at a. 6850 or 6870. I can get either at a good price.

Any help Is much appreciated.

Personally, if you are building a gaming rig again next year, the 6850 would be more than enough to hold you off. Personally, i know you will hate me for saying this, but if you can wait, i would. AT least until the new 7xxx's come out sometime late this year or early next. It will save you a piece to buy for your next rig.
