Hi all,
I've been interested in building my own computer for a while, and have decided to take the plunge...
My experience inside a computer is limited to; upgrading memory, changing out hard drives, and one processor. This computer is going to be used mainly for work, with some gaming possible.
This is what I am planning on putting together.

Case - Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower
PSU - Antec (2 yr old 850 W, not sure of model #)
MOBO - ASUS P8P67 DELUXE (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67
CPU - Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core
Cooler - COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus
memory - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
video - SAPPHIRE 100283-3L Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16
HDD - Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
CD/DVD - LITE-ON 24X DVD Writer

Will the above work & play well together? I am concerned about the PSU, does it have to be I7 compatible?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or comments!!!

If you are using it for gaming, you should invest in a RADEON 6950, and unless you are doing major major multi-threaded applications, an i5 2500k cpu and 8GB (2x4Gb) 1600 RAM is plenty! If you still have money left over, get yourself a Crucial M4 64Gb SSD ($110) or preferrably a 128Gb SSD ($195).

Thanks casualbuilder,

I am going with the I5 2500k, as suggested.
Keeping the 16GB ram as it is relatively inexpensive...(can you have too much memory?)
And plan to upgrade to an ssd after my project is up & running.
