Neither is an awesome performance machine, but I would go with the Newegg model because of the processor. Remember that these dont come with Windows which is an extra $80.

However, if you are building your own -- just buy parts that are on sale independently -- you should be able to make a better build than either of these.

Lots of people on Tom's do this:

There are also some published articles on building a budget PC at Tom's and Anandtech.

This is a good one: http://www.tomshardware.com/system-configuration-recomm...

Toms have looked at WoW several times, and benchmarks have shown that it runs (substantially) better on current gen Intel CPUs and also performs a bit better on Nvidia cards compared to equal AMD cards.

With that said, the i3 build you link to have a video card that would be terrible at gaming, so like others have said, look at similar threads or start your own thread using the How to ask for new build post.

I actually disagree with the i3 on this one. The AMD build has a more powerful graphics card although neither are very good.

Also the i3 build come with a Thermaltake power supply. Generally not something you want in your computer.

so the 4 gigs and 8 gigs don't matter in terms of us playing wow? and hard drive space doesn't bother me, i just want the better one

niether of the graphics cards in those computers will play very well. check the combo I suggested, its about 2x as powerful for gaming as either of the other machines.

yeah i did look at it, but overall its out of my price range. im currently using a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M on my laptop are the vid cards in those better than that? cause with that settings on low i get 20-30 fps and works awesome for me raiding.

well yes it is better than the 7150m. If you are happy with low settings then its ok. Still not good price for the parts and performance you get out of it.

this is better.

that i can afford! that is 76 dollars under my budget, so that combo will work better then both of the other ones for wow?

also should i just just invest the extra 76 and buy 4 4 gig sticks of the same ram and make both comps 8 gigs?

4 gb should be enough, remember you have to buy windows if you don't already have a install. If you can afford the ram, theres no reason not to either.

yeah i have 2 copys of windows 7 64 home premium 64 bit so save the money or spend it on the ram, cause i priced it and its only 20 dollars over my limit to make both comps 8 gigs

will you be wanting to OC? because it might be worth it to buy a fan for OC instead of the ram as you can get better performance from an OC compared to the ram.

You may also considering replacing the power supply that comes with it because it might not be too reliable.

i dont mind oc, if the price is good. the psu i can replace later. trying to get our comps on the 1st our laptops are on their last legs.

if i can overclock can u reccommend a fan for ocing under the 76 price? and maybe show a website that can show me how to over clock

so 2 of these will turn out better then the extra 4 gigs of ram for each computer..sounds good to me

yes, you should be able to overclock the cpu and the gpu for about a 20% improvement in performance with the fan.

The ram will sit idle unless you really need it.
