if you can afford an i5-2300 AND mobo, then you can get a better GPU than that.

yeah......well not exactly...cause my Phenom IIx4 955+mobo was selling for 176$....and the core i5 2300+mobo costs me 264$ ...so.... :)

Yeah....... And i game at 1366x768 monitor resolution (that's the highest my monitor can support )

And i also wanted to know if my current P.S.U. could support the card (cooler master Elite Power 460W,yeah i know i mentioned it wrong before :p  ) http://www.coolermaster.in/product.php?product_id=6615

or do i have to upgrade to another P.S.U. ?
P.S-It has a PCI-E 6 pin x1 connector. :)

Yes I agree it should work and a new GPU is definitely what you need. Is your Phenom overclocked?

Hi. Yes it requires 2x6pin. But you shouldn't be worry since 6770 is very good too.
But I made a search about this and I found HIS H685FN1GD Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 that requires only one 6pin and it costs only $10 more than 6790.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... 139$
Now if you can find 6850 at the price of $10 more than 6790 I think its a great value for money and a great choice for your psu :) .

you can also OC the 6850 to 6870 performance but thats beside the point.

The 6790 should work no problem with 1 6 pin and 1 molex adapter from the coolermaster psu.

I think that 6790 is your best bet, its quiet a bit faster than the 6770.

The 6790 is a great card if you can't get the 6850. 256-bit memory bus is a ton faster than the 128 found on the 6770.

6790 have a tdp of 150 and thus pcie+1x6pin connector can power this card, that means the other connector (converted) is only to ensure flawless working of card.
You need only 300w on 12v rail (combined) (i think yours is providing upto 400w on 12v)
using converter is only changing the connector to a suitable type to use

Your CPU is fine I would say get the graphics card. Another thing I noticed is you don't have a lot of RAM, 2 gigs is nothing. What OS are you using (Windows XP, Vista,7)? And is it a 64 or 32 bit OS? If it's a 32 bit OS I would max out the RAM to 4 gigs. If it's a 64 bit OS I would do either 4 or 8 gigs of RAM.

Four gigs is good enough for now but when you have the money it can't hurt to up the RAM to 8 gigs. But for now I would stick with the video card upgrade.

That sounds good. The 6970 is a good card. Don't forget to pick a best answer so the mods know the question has been answered.

you have to see the box and the product inside the box to make sure that you are buying the correct part

you can find 6790 easily in the nehru place

only thing remains is the manufacture and model of that 6790 (as different models comes with different cooling and speeds), but any model of 6790 will be good.

I don't know what you'll be able to find in your area but I would go with something with an aftermarket cooler like these.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Video cards that come with aftermarket coolers will give much better overall cooling compared to the stock fans. I personally also feel the aftermarket coolers are quieter than the stock ones but I can't prove that since I have no device for measuring the decibel level.
