X79 or Z68 for gaming/multimedia/VM

What is your thought on what to get x79 or z68?

Depending on the specific application. I would love to get an i7-3930k for cinema 4d.

If single gpu gaming is your primary goal, 1155. If you want a future-proof, multi-gpu setup spring for 2011.

If price is a huge concern wait for the 4 core 3820. It'll retail (Feb 13) at $289.99 and have performance similar to the 2600K.

that's going to be a good cpu.but i heard that it's not going to perform similar to 2600k! :??: 
is that true or we should wait for release? :whistle:

There's also 5 or 6 benchmarked reviews of it out there. They trade blows back and forth across the board. They're both 4c/4ht cpus that use the same exact DMI 2.0 interface with overclocking headroom. The difference is the 2600k has Quicksync (@Z68), the 3820 has quad channel memory.

The difference is X79 is a vastly superior platform over Z68.
