Will a pentium 840 EE bottleneck?

im wondering if a pentium EE 840 (here are specs http://ark.intel.com/products/27613/Intel-Pentium-Processor-Extreme-Edition-840-(2M-Cache-3_20-GHz-800-MHz-FSB) ) would bottleneck a GTX 560 while playing BF3 badly? got an old board (ASUS P5RD2-VM) and im thinking of buying a new PSU and the GPU now, and then later on throw them in the new board im planning on buying.

it will probaly not bottleneck, but that should be the first thing you upgrade

it will be a huge bottleneck Im pretty sure. Thats 2 pentium 4 prescotts taped together and is horrible...

A c2d 2ghz would out perform that.

nna2, it will bottleneck just not sure how much. the architecture is really bad.

a pentium D running at 3.2 is about equal to a core 2 duo at 1.6 GHz. ive seen people run BF3 with a pentium D running at 3.2, which is pretty much the same as mine besides the hyper threading.

well you should be able to play on low to maybe medium but you shouldn't buy a 560 unless you want to upgrade your cpu soon. Something much cheaper would be more appropriate. Try the 6670 or 450 for an upgrade.

i did upgrade the CPU XD heres the old one i had :http://ark.intel.com/products/27462/Intel-Pentium-4-Processor-524-supporting-HT-Technology-(1M-Cache-3_06-GHz-533-MHz-FSB). the best two CPUs i could get were a pentium D running at 3.6 or a pentium extreme (pentium D with HT) running at 3.2. but im getting a H67 board soon, what i want to know is would it be a good idea buying it now and playing games like BF3 on my old PC for now and then when i get my new board, throw my GTX560 in there, or should i just wait and hopefully the price will drop?

the price will definately drop within the next 2 month as the new cards are launching so Im not sure if its a good idea to invest in it.

I doubt it will be a enjoyable time playing bf3 with that cpu but might be worth it.

my e1200 said it can trash 840 ee like underdog....
