Mobo HDMI Slot

How come their is an HDMI slot on my MOBO and then also one on my graphics card, does it matter which one i use?

  1. The one on the motherboard is for the integrated GPU the one on the card is for the card so it is the one to use if you want to use the discrete GPU.

  3. The one on the card! otherwise you are on the weaker integrated GPU that is either on your board or the CPU! It will help us knowing board or CPU if you tell us what hardware you are using.

    im using an Asus P8-Z77 V and a Intel core i5 - 3570k 1155
  5. What card? Presuming it is better than the HD4000 on the CPU.
    If you connected to the board you are using the HD4000.
    If you connect to the card you are using the card!
    Connect to the card!

    Yes definitely the card since it would be sitting in your machine doing nothing if you do not hook the monitor to it.
