Hey all,

I'm looking to build a new computer soon and was wondering if everything I picked was compatible. I believe everything is compatible, but want those who know more than me about computer building to verify. To begin let me list everything I'm looking to buy:

Case: NZXT M59-001 BK M59 tower $49.99
Motherboard: Gigabyte ultra durable 3 classic GA-880GA-UD3H $109.99
CPU: AMD HDE00ZFBGRBOX Phenom II 1100t black 6 core 3.30GHZ $189.99
Video Cards: ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 $169.99
Cooling system: Corsair CWCH50-1 HYDRO H50 $69.99
PSU: Corsair CMPSU-650TXV2 $69.99
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit $99.99
RAM: 8GB(4GBx2) kit Ballistix DDR3 240pin DIMM BL2KIT51264BA1339 $55.99 x2

I'm going for a somewhat mid range expensive build, should be around $700 when done. That's all I'm willing to spend at the moment (college student), and I think I can run various games (WoW, Crysis, The witcher 2, Skyrim) at least on medium graphic quality. I already have a barracuda 1tb HD, monitor, mouse, keyboard, and sound system as well. To sum up, I'm interested mostly in gaming. I know it's overkill for 16gb of ram as well, but if my PSU can run that fine then I want to get it. Any thoughts or suggestions?

For the mobo, make sure it's revision 3.1 which gives AM3+ socket for future upgrade to Bulldozer (FX)

An intel i3 will do better in gaming than a Phenom II x6. Get a Z68 mobo then and only get 8 GB and get a Gigabyte GTX 560 Ti as the GTX 4XX are becoming outdated.

Bulldozer sucks. Worse than Phenom.

I agree with the above posters. Go for intel. i3 2100 (125$) for entry level, i5 2400 (190$) if you don't plan on OC, i5 2500k (215$) if you do.
Pick a good Z68 mobo that start as cheap and solid as a gigabyte GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 for 115$

I actually refuse to go Intel, I prefer AMD. But other than that thank you for the motherboard and video card advice. Anyone know of any better quality motherboards around the same price, I like the looks of the one I picked out but the ratings were mixed. 1/2 said it failed outa the box 1/2 said it was awesome. I don't know how much i trust those odds.

sorry, but right now, Intel is the only game in town for gaming, Bulldozer is competitive if you're doing heavily multithreaded applications, but it is inadequate for its price in gaming.

i5-2400 is the best-bang-for-buck CPU on the market right now

If you're desperate for a AMD build, get an Asus M5A97 Evo or the M5A99X if you want to crossfire/sli in the feature.

Not really the point though. Just advice for an AMD build.

I'm not actually going for Bulldozer though, as far as I was concerned bulldozer came out a few weeks ago and it's rated lower then the phenom x6. I want the phenom x6, and when I looked it up ratings wise online in terms of power, it seemed to run around the same as the equal intel processor. Even if intel was faster, the difference was only negligible. Is this not true? Also I know a 6 core vs 3 core won't increase your game speed, but it does increase your multitasking speed doesn't it? I was something that can run the games fast, but also can multitask as much as I want.

What equal intel CPU? i5 will own any phenom.
