I'm building a new gaming rig. So my system Spec are :

Motherboard : ASUS P5G43T-M PRO
Proc : Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 2.66Ghz
Ram : 8 GB DDR3
HDD : 1 TB Seagate
PSU : Corsair 500W
Monitor : LG 19" Wide Screen so I normally play at 1400x900

I have a feeling that at that resolution I don't need a card too powerful. What card do you recommend that I can buy which will give me playable fps running games at high detail levels? I was thinking of buying a HD 6850, but if feel that might be overkill. I'm looking at the £50-120 ball park.

i have a 6850 and just upgraded from a 19" monitor like yours to a 23.6" 1080p monitor. Even at 1080p the card still plays everything at high enough detail, the only games it will struggle with would be crysis 2 with dx11 and maxed out details, you may need to turn down details or dx11 off, or metro 2033....everything else will run great. I highly recommend a monitor upgrade as soon as you can, even if your just going for the 6850. If you plan to keep your 19" monitor i would say a 6770/5770 would be all you really need right now, but a 6850 will keep you going for a few more years.
