I'm getting ready to upgrade my computer, but I need to decide which processor to get.
My choice isn't based purely on use, but on price and Motherboard compatability. I plan on picking up a Gigabyte GA-Z68XP UD3 Rev. 1.3 Socket 1155. My choices for CPU are as follows:
Intel I5 2500K or Intel I7 2600K
I will be doing some light gaming, CAD drawing, M/S Office applications, Internet and email.
For my intended use, both CPU's are probably more than adequate. The real "issue" is that I can get really good deals on either one. I can get the I5 2500K for $179.99 or the I7 2600K for $229.99.
These prices are for a limited time only and are on New merchandise (ie. Retail Box) for prefered customers.
Is the I7 2600K worth the extra $50? After looking at NewEgg, I would be geting it for the same price that they charge for the I5 2500K.
I'm also open to suggestions on the Motherboard. I've always had good luck with Gigabyte, but I am willing to change if some one can convince me otherwise.
