I'm about to build a gaming computer and I was wondering if this would be a good gaming computer?

Intel Core i7-2600k
ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z LGA 1155 Intel Z68
ASUS ENGTX560
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 12GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX850 V2 850W
Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb
ASUS DVD Burner
NZXT Phantom ATX Full Tower Computer Case

What's you budget and monitor resolution?

Intel Core i7-2600k
The i7 is a waste; the i5 performs identically in games and is $100 cheaper. Use the extra money to buy a better GPU

ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z LGA 1155 Intel Z68
These are pretty overpriced, but are pretty good boards if you're doing heavy OCs.
If you're not OCing, you could easily buy a cheaper Asus or Gigabyte board and get the same performance.

ASUS ENGTX560
I'm assuming you're gaming at 1920x1080, and I'd suggest a better GPU. The extra money from the CPU will easily bump you up to around a GTX 570/6970, which will be great at that resolution.

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 12GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
I'm guessing this is a 3x4GB kit. You need a 2x4GB (8GB) kit for the Z68 platform, and 8GB is all you need. Most games can run well on 4GB, but the newer ones are starting to use more and 8GB is the most cost effective.

CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX850 V2 850W
You're buying way more than you need. For 1x570 + 2500K (stock) you're looking at a 750W PSU. The TX750V2 is a good one also.

Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb
The WD Blacks are overpriced. You can get a Samsung F3 1TB for the same price and it's a faster drive.

NZXT Phantom ATX Full Tower Computer Case
Great full tower with good cable management and the like. Worth the $$ IMO
