Are there any requirements from my computer to be compatible with a graphics card or is it just that i have to have a good enough PSU?

Your motherboard, processor, ram, native resolution and, of course, budget are also important when choosing a video card.

To be 'compatible', just the PSU and motherboard. Motherboard is not too much of a problem if you have a board built in the last 6 years or so.
For choosing the right one however, all those that jyjjy said has to be considered.
