Is there any change in the handling of XP service pack 2 towards bluetooth?
Does one still need to install widcomm software on a pc or does XP
automatically recognize a bluetooth dongle when it is for the first time
connected to a usb port?

I'm using three different BT dongles and always had some problems with the
drivers. After removing the drivers and installing XP SP2 all dongles were
recognised bij XP and are working rock solid.

The MS drivers should work, but some features present in the Widcomm drivers
(notably support for headsets) aren't implemented.

Check with your hardware vendor's support pages (they will normally have a
section dealing with your device and SP2).

Hope this helps.

Other features missing include the PAN and LAP support. Microsoft Bluetooth
can only be a LAP client - which means users need to have a bluetooth LAN
Access Point and the PC can not be a server.

OBEX Sync is another missing feature on MS Bluetooth.
