Quick Question regarding Sound Card and building new PC

This is probably a noob question.

When building a new PC, does one have to buy a sound card as well? In all of these new PC threads nobody is listing them, so idk.

The only reason you'd need a sound card is if you're connecting your system to an HD sound system and you have more than say 7 speakers or channels.

Most motherboards these days have built in 5.1 and 7.1 compatible sound cards anyways, so you don't really need one. They're kind of a thing of the past anyways.

Unless you have a $1000 set of speakers the onboard sound will be fine .
