I need to build a render beast for Cinema 4D and After Effects projects. Budget is $6000.

We are looking at overclocking two Intel Xeon X5690s (4.1Ghz) on a SR-2 board with 64GB ram, Nvidia GTX 580 card.

Can we do better than this? Do any of the Sandy Bridge chips do better (are cheaper?)?

So when are the Xeon E5-2665's supposed to be coming out? Maybe it would be in my interest to wait a few more weeks and throw two of those on a SR-3 (assuming it's coming soon too).

You will not be able to use the Premiere Pro App timeline on the SR-2. First, due to the inherent Win 7 audio processing delay, an external audio I/O solution must be made. This is where the SR-2 fails with PPro.

All other audio stuff will work, but the PPro timeline will either not play (hangs) or it will stutter. Firewire, PCI-e, by M-Audio, Creative, SAffire, none of these work.

Buy Intel board, X5690 CPU's PCI M-Audio and you will have a GREAT editing solution.

Prepare for CS6 too...think Quadro and TESLA
