I have a qUestion about my temps after I overclocked my CPU. I have an I7 2600K overclocked to 4.5 with a Hyper 212. The problem is that my idle temps are in the 40's. The voltages are at stock so what do you think is wrong or is this normal.

That does seem high for idle. Is the fan plugged in and working? If all that checks out I would say wipe off the old thermal paste and re-apply.

My experience with my Intel® Core™ i7-2600K and the Cooler Master hyper 212+ with 2 fans in a push/pull set up is for idle temps in the high 20s or low 30s.

Yes the fan is plugged into the CPU fan header and it seems to be working fine. I'll TTY re applying thermal paste and see what happens.

Ok I just pulled the heatsink off and I think it was to much. It was kind of overflowing off the sides. I wiped off the old thermal paste and re-applied and the temps are in the high 20's.

If it was overflowing than it was definitely to much thermal paste. You don't need a lot of thermal paste to be effective. When it comes to thermal paste the main thought is less is more.
