Hello!

I'm thinking of buying a new TFT.. I'm choosing between the Benq 17" TFT FP767 and the Hitachi CML174SX 17"

The specs are quite the same.. Benq got 500:1 in contrast and the Hitachi has 400:1

But a friend of mine sais that I should buy Benq because of the brand..

I have found lots of good reviews on the Hitachi and none of the Benq..

What should I do??

Well first of all you need to get rid of your friend who gives you such advice that you need to buy a monitor for a brand :-) especially unknown brand, at least I hear it for the first time...

Even though I bought that Hitachi CML174, I am going to tell to check out Samsung 172B (I belive it was just released and has 16ms response rate) Hitachi is great, I have no problems whatsoever for 4 month now... but that Samsung is very nice...

Hey, sorry, I meant the opposite! My friend told me NOT to buy Benq because of the brand! =)

I checked that Samsung and it said that it had 25 ms response time =(

Actually, the Benq seems to be perfect.. But it doesn't have DVI! That kind of scares me!

Is DVI important? Many people sais that the image become sharper and quicker..

Also, should I tolerate that my flat panel doesn't have DVI? I can get DVI for 150 dollars extra...

Comparing Benq and Hitachi LCD monitors is just like comparing apples and oranges. They are made for different market segments. Benq, based in Taiwan, manufactures many types of low-end LCDs. The one you mentioned is probably one of them.

sorry buddy but Benq is NOT a no name brand
It used to call Acer. you know Acer? right?
Due to the Comapany management such and such
around year2002 they change the name to Benq from
Acer for their computer products

and just in case anybody that dont know

Hitachi is a Japanese company
Benq is Taiwanese company
and Samsung is KOREAN

Trix are NOT JUST for kids

Here's a review a found on the 767 model.

I'm seriously considering the 767 because of price and response time. DVI doesn't interest me, and I'm only an avid gamer so this monitor seems like the perfect choice for a college computer I'm building.

And it's already been cleared up, but no, Benq isn't a "no name" brand, it's a renamed brand.
