Choosing the right RAM

Hey guys, so this is my current build;

Mobo: Asus Maximus Gene V Mirco ATX LGA 1155
CPU: i7-3770k
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 660
PSU: SeaSonic M12ii 520W Bronze
(Haven't selected any storage yet but I'm leaning towards SSD and a HHD, probably a 120GB and a 1TB)
Case: Silverstone FT03
OS: Windows 7 64-bit

For memory I was thinking Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 but I'm sure if its compatible with my build and if it's even the right choice.

**Also if anyone have some information of which slim slot-loading (I believe that's what it's called, where the CD is loaded and the only way to get it out is through the eject option on your desktop... that's the only version of it I can get due to the FT03 case) CD-ROM I should get so I can start playing some BF:3 and D3 once the build is complete :)

Thanks and like always all the information is much appreciated.

More about choosing
  1. do you need the i7 for video editing or something like that if not just get a 3570k 100 bucks cheaper all you need for bf3 plus you can get a better graphics card as for ram this will be fine http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233184

    and if you do go for the 3570k then get this graphics card ti version for your card

    free ac3
  2. Vengeance is alright. Although I will recommend getting four cards as then you will be able to use quad channel.

    LGA 1155 processors are dual channel memory only meaning there's no advantage over having 4 DIMMs than just 2 DIMMs. LGA 2011 has quad channel memory on the other hand, not that the average user would even need it.

    That's a stupid mistake. Thank you for pointing that out.
  5. Samsung 2x4GB DDR3-1600 is more trustworthy and unlike Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 it really is 1600.
