Hello

I ordered a Msi N580GTX Lightning Xtreme Edition graphic card and i am worried that my power supply isnt strong enough for it. I have been searching for the amount of watts the card uses but cannot find it. can anyone help?

In case it matters i have an 850w power supply right now. and i am planing on upgrading my CPU, GPU, and RAM.

CPU - AMD six core T1100 3.3

GPU- Msi N580GTX Lightning Xtreme Edition

RAM - DDR2 Crucial 1066 4x (2GB) sticks

You'll probably be fine. The GTX580 is rated around the same as the GTX480, so around 225-250W depending on clock speeds. You'll be more then fine with a QUALITY 850W PSU.

Dunno what those numbers were that I posted before.Sorry.

So the Lightening GTX580 consumes about 235watts on it's own and a total system power draw is around 388 watts.

As 4745454b stated above you should be fine as long as your PSU is a quality unit.

I do, from first link.

Quote:
But what is interesting is that power consumptions was actually higher than the GTX 480, not lower as NVIDIA claims. Yet we also really need to mention that the board used (engineering sample) had an older BIOS and that power consumption on this board might be a tad higher as a result of it.

So the big question is what PSU?

That's odd.I thought Gold was 90+ but their saying 80+.Anyway that PSU is plenty fine for a single GTX580.

How/why are you using DDR2 RAM with a 1100T?
