I'm about to buy this graphics card, but as I was checking XFX's site for specs for this card, I noticed it requires a 500 watt minimum PSU, and recommends 550. My current power supply is only a hec 400 watt power supply. I don't even know if it was a good one, since it was a prebuilt that someone else got for me like 3 years ago (still more or less works though). Anyway, I need to get that replaced, as I refuse to attach any of my newer hardware to that thing. For reference, I'm putting in 8 gigs of ram and a 2500k into this system along with this card:

Currently, I'm thinking this 620w PSU should be a good buy: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817182200

It's got the Hardware Secrets Golden Award, fairly good reviews, 50A on the 12v rail, etc. Thing is, once I get past all that positive there, people seem to go insane whenever they see Rosewill, no matter what. Is this paranoia because Rosewill failed in the past, or is that unit also garbage?

And of course, if it's no good, is there something better at a similar pricepoint? I'm making the order on the PSU and GPU today. I have exactly $234. That leaves me exactly $64 for a PSU. Am I making a good choice here? I don't foresee myself doing much GPU overclocking, but I may do some CPU oc'ing in the future once I learn how to even do it, so I want to account for that somewhat. Thanks for any advice.

that psu should be fine but I'd get a corsair cx500 Corsair is a better brand compared to rosewill. 500w is also plenty.

This one is slightly less, and a much better unit. Its less power, but it will fit the bill.

I looked at that corsair PSU for a long time, but I've been hearing that the CX series is a pretty bad line of PSUs from Corsair. Seems a tad risky, but I think just about anyone recommends it over anything Rosewill.

I really do want that one, but I can't quite manage $75 on the PSU. Hows this one from OCZ? It's $55 outright, no rebates or promo cards, no shipping fee: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817341016

The OCZ is decent...

45$ after rebate...

That cx430 is really nicely priced, but the reviews are terrifying. In fact, reviews on everything under $65 seem unacceptable or from a bad manufacturer. At $65, I may as well hit 70 and go for higher wattage. Thinking about one of these:

SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Antec NEO ECO 620C 620W Continuous Power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply:

Are either of these better than the XFX 550? I'm going over budget, and will have to delay buying my case fans, but I don't want to risk frying my entire system or anything.

The XFX 550 is a Seasonic unit... as is the Antec Neo Eco. At that point its a question of the best 80+ rating for the money, and if any of them have rebates/discounts.

The Seasonic S12II is free shipping, and its only ~5 dollars off from the XFX after the rebate. Its probably easier to just get that one. Unless you really like the look of the XFX that is :)

Alright, I went ahead and got the Seasonic PSU. $5 over budget, but I'll work through that. Tiny bit of futureproofing for a small price. Should handle any single card for a good while I'd imagine. Thanks all :).
