Amd Athlon II x4 645 3.1ghz or Amd Phenom II x4 925 2.8ghz

Ive got a HP Pavilion p6823w with a Amd Phenom II x2 521 3.5ghz (found out it was really a Athlon though..) and with a Radeon HD 6670 ddr3 1gb that i bought off of tigerdirect and i would like to maybe upgrade the processor to a quad core because i think ive been noticing some bottlenecks. My friend who has a Amd Phenom II x4 955 3.2 ghz with a Radeon HD 6670 ddr5 1gb can get over 60 fps all low on gta 4 but i can only get about 35 on all low. Me and my friend also like to play on a multi theft auto server for Gta San Andreas and the fps limit for the server is 76 but i can only average out about 50 no matter what graphics settings i have it on, but then my friend gets 76 flat no matter what settings. So ive been looking at some processors lately and i found that the Athlon II x4 645 3.1ghz and the Phenom II x4 925 2.8ghz are probably my best options because ive got a max tdp of 95w for my motherboard..

The motherboard thats in my computer is a N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX (Alvorix)

Processor upgrade information

Max TDP: 95W

Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
NOTE:
Only Socket AM3 processors are supported with this motherboard.

AMD Phenom II X6 10xxT Six-Core (Thuban core)

AMD Phenom II X4 9xx/9xxe/8xx Quad-Core (Deneb core)

AMD Phenom II X3 7xx/7xxe Triple-Core (Heka core)

AMD Phenom II X2 5xx (Callisto core)

AMD Athlon X4 6xx/6xxe (Propus)

AMD Athlon X3 4xx/4xxe (Rana)

AMD Athlon X2 2xx/2xxe (Regor)

AMD Sempron Single Core 1xx (Sargas core)

I dont think i can overclock the processor either cause HP locks their motherboards so you cant do any of that stuff...

Oh and i also found some benchmarks of these two.

athlon: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.ph [...] +II+X4+645
phenom: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.ph [...] +II+X4+925

it looks like the athlon got a better score... not sure if these benchmarks really prove anything though...

no they stop support of phenom IIs. the Zosma is a thuban chip with cores disabled and will work if your motherboard supports thuban.

btw there is a fair difference between the 6670 with GDDR3 and GDDR5.

have you tried his card in your PC to see if there is a difference. even if to rule out ANY chance of it being graphics card related.
