Card for x4 9850

My old rig was running a Phenom x4 9850, ddr2 4gb, msi 785 gtm, evga 460 890/1000. There was a noticeable bottleneck happening (cpu). I bought a whole new rig taking the 460 with me. Now I'm left with this rig which is still running good but without a gpu. My friend said he has a spare Gt 210 laying around, don't know if it still works but I will try. My little brother plays Team fortress 2, left for dead 2 games like that. He doesn't really care for eye candy but his laptops is very choppy to a point where it is not playable. Would the gt 210 be enough or should I buy him a new card, around 50 bucks would be good.

That shud be good enuf to play games at medium settings........but hi end games myt suffer bt at low settings dey wont be a prob most probably

the gt 210 is good but when it comes to new games like crysis 2 it wont go above 20 fps on the lowest settings. if you want a good $ 50 card get the radeon 6450 it can play it on medium settings pretty well.

Whats the strongest card the x4 9850 can take without a bottleneck.

9800gtx or a gts 450 but that is the very max that it can go.

Pretty dreadful gaming results for the GT 210, 18 fps on the first L4D. I would at least spring for a GT 240 or a HD 6570 if it's for gaming.

yeah the gt 210 is complete crap, I would go for at least say a 5670/450 but after that point the lowly cpu will hold you back, is the cpu oc'ed? those first gen phenoms are just kind of weak but I'd say the 210 will not be much of an improvement over integrated laptop graphics, maybe a second hand 240gt or 5670, 50 is kind of a low budget

For 1440x900 I'd say a 5670 or GTS 440 would be a good match. Of course since I'm guessing you want to pay less than that a Radeon 6570 would be what you would look at or even a GTS 240, GTS 430, or radeon 5570 would suit those needs ^_^

What is your budget? I am assuming your using the same PSU you had for the 460.

The new 460 I bought was DOA so i returned it for a refund. I guess I am going to wait for new gen of cards and give the 460 to the other rig. Or should I just get a 570 now and sli it when they are under 300.

The current Fermi era cards are just not worth it due to poor hardware quality. If you want something that is closer to idiot proof but reliable then go for the 6970.

Dude a 6970 is good enuf n is equal to d 570......it depends on d game.......In AMD optimised game 6970 will give more FPS and in Nvidia optimised Games 570 will give more FPS.......and with all due respect Nforce4max Nvidia cards are not bad in quality if you buy from a good and reliable manufacturer...........many of my friends are running 570 and 460SLI n 580s and they are all happy........yest u may get bad quality if u buy cheap products that are from non reliable companies......No Offence......
