Realtek Front Panel jack not working..

Here's my problem. The headphone jack that I patch my computer into my cassette recorder or external speakers will not work. It works once inawhile but upon reloading my computer I can't get any audio out. It's not the cords, or speakers they work. The internal speakers on the computer works, but when I plug in the jack , nothing. Is there a setting I'm not finding or is it something else?
The Computer is a Acer Aspire 3680 XP Home edition, RealTek

have you tried installing the realtek drivers that came with your computer? or maybe you're running outdated drivers:
