Asus P8Z68-V Pro notrecognising hard drive

Got a new system started yesterday. It doesn't seem to recognise the hard drive. Seagate Barracuda 3.5" internal SATA 3Gb/s. Motherboard is a Asus P8Z68-v pro. Intel I-5 cpu seems to work fine. I have a red light on the MB that says its the boot device led. Does the hard drive have to be formatted somehow first? Can't seem to find any drivers either in the Seagate disk or the MB disk. Any idea how to get the system to recognize the hard drive?

Hard drive does not need to be formatted before booting.

In you case check power cables and Sata cables.

Make sure that the power supply is supplying power and there are no problems with the wires.

Try plugging the hard drive in some other computer and if the hard drive still doesnot work then there might be a problem with your hard drive.
