Can 6gb/s ssds be used on a 3gb/s motherboard

Hello,
i was wondering if OCZ Vertex 6Gb/s SSD's can be used on a 790FX MSI mobo
i need to replace one bad drive in a raid 0 array and thought 2 new vertex 6Gb/s in raid 0 would do the trick

Most if not all SSD's are backwards compatible. I'm using an OCZ SATA III SSD on my SATA II motherboard and it works fine.

Yeah, it's sad to only get half of the SSD's potential. You can get a SATA III controller PCI-e add on card for about $30. It'll still be capped at around 5Gb/S, but if you want a bit more juice out of your SSD....

have you used one of these yourself or know people who have? Sorry for hijacking a thread, but I am curious about them. I read newegg reviews saying they are often incompatible and most say they will not function for boot drives. If I heard a few positive reviews I would buy one of these myself.
