Decent PSU for MSI Radeon HD 6770.

PC Specs-
CPU: Intel i3 2100
RAM: 4GB DDR3
MoBo: Intel DH61WW
HDD: Seagate 7200 Baracudda 160GB
ODD: Samsung OCTO Edge

I will be running Games for long time with the Radeon HD 6770.

I need to buy a decent PSU for running the GPU. And the new should have no issues
with my system.

Preffered brand: Coolermaster. Now way for other brands cause the are not available where I live. So ONLY Colermaster.

Thanks.

  1. Are their any other brands avaible to you?Maybe Antec?

Cooler Master doesn't make very good PSU's(at least their low wattage stuff)so finding the right PSU will be hard.

Something like this will do but it's a bit expensive.Paying $100 for a 500 watt PSU that's only bronze certified.

  2. AMD recommends a minimum 450W PSU but prefers a 600W PSU with two 6-pin PCI-E connectors. See the link below.

  3. You must have better the CoolerMaster available.

CM makes some great cases, but they are still learning to build PSU's.

A 6770 only needs about 8 amps. Power draw of your system will probably be less than 270 watts. So a good 400 watt PSU would work, but a 500 watt PSU would be better.
  4. What about CM GX 550?
  5. How many amps on the +12v does it have?

As long as it outputs over 400watts on the +12v rail it should be fine.

The GX series looks good so far.

    Please have a look here,

    then inform.
  7. Yah that's one of the better models from CoolerMaster. As I said it looks like the GX series is their better stuff.I would say go ahead and get it.

So can you assure me that i won't face any issues when running HD 6770 for a long time in gaming?
  9. Or should I get Corsair GS 600??
  10. You didn't say you could buy from Corsair.Definitly get the GS 600 over any CoolerMaster.
  11. CoolerMaster and Corsair both sell some mediocre PSUs so you need to check accurate reviews to see how a specific model performs. The GS 600 is a mediocre PSU according to several reviews.
  12. Honestly either will do.It's just a 6770.

Actually i have to do some to get from Corsair. No matter, will get from Corsair for sure.

^ Am thinking of saving some money and getting the Corsair CX 500 V2 80+ Certified.
Will I be 100% issue free?
  14. you dont need 500watts. you can run that setup from an antec earthwatts 380w. Coolermaster is crap, its impossible that where you live they would only stock one brand. if you get a good brand like antec, corsair or seasonic you will only need a 380w+ psu to run that setup.
  15. That PSU isn't the best but it will work for your setup.
  16. But CX 500 V2 is from Corsair.
  17. Corsair makes good PSU's but their most known for their high end PSU's.Anything under 500 watts is mainly for budget builders that they make. But even still most of their budget builder stuff is better than CoolerMaster's stuff.

Either way it should be fine for your build.Your PC isn't going to consume more than 300 watts.
  18. Okay, I will go with CX 500 V2. Just tell me if I am 100% Free from any PSU issue for Long Time Gaming. :-|
  19. That PSU will be fine for your build and it should last you a long time.

Sorry, by long time gaming i meant gaming for a long period of time say 12hrs a day continuously. Will i face any issues if I do so?

No.It will be fine because your not even close to using the max rated output of it.Which means it will last a long time either way,in longitivity and usage.
  22. the CX corsairs are their budget brand, while you could do worse, they arent great, use cheaper components.
  23. Do you think that the GX 550 from CoolerMaster would be better?

It got a great review and it seems to be better than the CX series from Corsair.
  24. I want to inves that money to get i5 2400 instead of i 2100.

Also tell me, I can run MSI HD 6770 in a CM Elite 310 case with optimum temparature?
  25. So you don't have any of these parts yet?

    Yes it will fit.

  28. Can you pay a little extra for the HAF 912?

The CM Elite 310 only comes with one fan.Unless you want to buy additonal ones.

How about this one? Looks quite impressive. Cheper than both HAF 922 n Elite 430.
  30. No that's not a good case at all.It only looks good because it has a front LCD display.Try to stay away from any case that has 80mm fans. You want 120mm and up.

But its front and side has 120mm.
  32. Those are optional. They don't come with the case.
