I bought a new 3770k for my P8Z77-I and installed it in a new system along with 2x4GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer 1866mhz. The CPU and RAM was new but everything else on the system (PSU is Corsair 650W Enthusiast) had been used before. I got the system built, it'd start up but no post and cycle on/off every 15 seconds or so. I started messing around trying to figure out what was wrong, checked all the plugins no problem. The RAM had LED's on the top but they didnt light up, so I thought maybe they were bad. I grabbed two sticks of G.SKILL Ares 2x8GB 1600MHz memory which I had installed on this motherboard previously and nothing changed. I considered maybe the CPU was bad, so I put in the i5 3450s that was in there before and it still had no change. The motherboard I had swapped the 3450s G.SKILL into was sitting empty (Gigabyte H77N) so I installed the 3770k and Ballistix Ram in there, booted up just fine. I swapped power supplies and still no POST.
I noticed that the DRAM light would flash red slowly, so I tried resetting the CMOS, nothing. I swapped around memory sticks trying different configurations, got it to go to a solid red and stay on but still no POST. Changed it back to both G.SKILL 2x8 sticks installed and it'd give me a rapid DRAM flash but no POST. I tried the MEMOK button and it immediately shutoff, I release and it shuts off, flashes red then stays off for a few seconds, and the second it starts to flash red again it shuts down. I'm completely confused now, I know that none of the components are good (except maybe the P8Z77-I something might have gone bad on it? Possibly a short somewhere?) and the ones I have installed on it now have all been used before and were good. I couldn't find any bent CPU pins so I'm really at a loss here. Any ideas?
