Mixing Corsair Dominator Ram

Last response: in Memory

I am currently running an EVGA X58 SLI LE motherboard with Corsair Dominator 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CMP6GX3M3A1600C8). I want to add Corsair Dominator 12GB (3x4GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CMP12GX3M3A1600C9) to my rig. The timing and voltage for the ram i have now is 8-8-8-24, 1.65V and the timing and voltage for the ram I want to add on is 9-9-9-24 latency at 1.65v. My question is the obvious and that is if I can use these ram in the same rig without issue or should I just buy another set of Corsair Dominator 6GB (3x2GB) which costs about the same as the 12GB? Thanks for the help.

I would just buy the 6 GB pack as they have a lower latency, and you won't need more than 12GB of RAM usually anyways, unless you are doing extremely intensive math applications, virtual PC's running simultaneously, or running the entire Adobe Master Collection all at once while working in each. I get by on 8GB with 3 GB to spare usually, so go with the higher performance.
