yes, however I would not get the h50. You would be much better off with a cooler master hyper 212+

I got the i5 2500k with the H50 for $220. I am not complaining.

I would suggesting going for the H100 or the H80 instead of the H50, not that they are bad, I am using 2 of them, but the new ones are better and more efficient.
H80

Yeah, the i5-2500K and a h100 would put you down by nearly 350 buck, so you did save quiet a bit, not a bad buy at all..... :)
Well, some people do have all the luck in the world.....

What GPU are you using with the rig?

Granted they are both used from eBay, but $200 and $20 shipping for i5 and liquid cooling is making me happy.

I have a 6950 by the way. (:

All of this money is for upgrading me from my AMD Athlon II X4 635 2.9 Quad Core CPU

Never buy closed loops on ebay. Not a good idea.

Not a good idea 'cos you will never know how old they are and how stressed they have been. A pre built closed loop has a lifespan, varying but it still has a limited life, and the H50's are actually quite old.... that's why it's not a good idea to buy one off eBay.

But, you could later on, mod the H50 to cool your GPU :) after you serviced it and bought yourself another LC for the CPU....
Later yes, it's a hell of a lot of fun, especially if you manage to do it yourself, and , then you can go all out, with a bigger budget and better pumps, rad and the works....
It's a cool first step..... toward water cooling a rig....

Seems like you never feel good about anything you post on the forums here :/

I mean it seems like he took care of his stuff, so it seems like it will work fine.

Worst case scenario I paid $220 for a used i5 2500K.

Reply to xxbobbyfinxx

That's another very big risk since we know they're highly overclockable.....
You may never know what sort of voltages the CPU was put up to, which barriers and transistors blew on the way up or down.
A good bargain, is actually when you can buy stuff at a cheaper rate or lesser than market prices and ARE SURE that the seller hasn't screwed it up.....
And on eBay.... that's a rarity....

He said he used both parts last Sunday to test them before posting the auction. He also says that he uses his laptop more which is why he's selling the Desktop parts in the first place. I don't think he's a hardcore gamer enthusiast. :/

Reply to xxbobbyfinxx

Worst case scenario...... you paid 200$ for one week of working fine and lifetime of BSODs and dying mobos....

Hey, but, we're just telling you to be careful, it's your hard earned/saved money. You could be the lucky guy who won the Airbus too....
But it's pretty much based on luck.....
We're not saying you got a bad deal or you were duped, no, they seller could be absolutely truthful, but it's not always the case.

And we're not here to make people feel good, actually, we're just happy for you if it works for a year..... it's just that such happiness is very difficult to put down in words..... :)

Well all of this was enough to make me request cancellations on both the Motherboard and CPU/H50 combo. So I can spend 25$ more and get the Mobo/CPU in a week with my next paycheck, and maybe watercooling in the far future.

Thanks everyone.

Reply to xxbobbyfinxx

Is that 220 plus 25???
Ya, sure you can...... for 250$ plus the paycheck I think you'd get a very reliable and hassle free setup.
Give us the exact budget and what all you'd like to buy in that budget... and we'll suggest something that'll rock your world....

i5 is $229 on Newegg.
Mobo is $121.99 on Newegg

I got the mobo for $115.50 (Open box, but new) [REFUNDED]
I got the CPU/H50 for $220.00

Cancelled the Mobo already and am getting the refund.

Basically I saved $25 but I also got the H50, and I was really excited about getting some LC :/

EDIT: Got the mobo refund already. Waiting for the other refund.

Asrock z68 extreme 3 gen 3 is a great choice.

So for the time being, you can get the same Mobo and the same CPU for nearly the same price that you were spending inclusive of the LC right?
Get it, use the stock cooler for a month until your next paycheck and then get the H100....

Reply to alyoshka

I've got the Mobo, i5, and H100 in my wishlist on Newegg.

Only $471....

Reply to xxbobbyfinxx

That is because the H100 is a lot more expensive than the H50..... but it's also a much better performer.......
Plus, you're getting the warranty on all three...... for the full time period, so if you divide the performance and warranty into the Ooomph factors..... it's way cheaper than you might have expected it to be, but still a little more expensive than what ebay offers.....

Reply to alyoshka

Yeah, sigh. It's been a bad day. I absolutely feel like garbage for cancelling both these transactions so I can later buy parts that are too expensive now.

This is when I go through my closet and look for stuff of my own to sell on eBay.

Reply to xxbobbyfinxx

You can save 30$ if you went for the H80.....

------------------------------ Passiveness causes others to pass us by

Reply to alyoshka

$30 isn't worth it. I might as well just wait for the pay check.

Reply to xxbobbyfinxx

I can't understand why you're feeling blue, the only thing that is missing is the LCL in the same amount of cash that you were spending on eBay and are now spending on Newegg now. Which is not going to be a very long wait until the end of the month...... so you can change over from the stock cooler to the LCL of your choice....

Another thing that you need to know before you jump onto the H100 bandwagon , is, ...... is your case capable of mounting that H100?

------------------------------ Passiveness causes others to pass us by
http://valid.canardpc.com/cache/banner/2026250.png
Reply to alyoshka

Because this guy had a CPU/Mobo/H50 combo, and I asked him to wait for it to expire, then relist just the CPU/H50, and he did at a fair price. Then I bought it and want to retract the bid. I just feel really bad.

"Regardless of whichever reason you want to use to cancel, I'll send you a cancellation so that you can get out of the transaction and I can relist it. But, if you are buying parts on eBay used, you won't know regardless what has been done to the part. I've been honest that I had overclocked the CPU, as well as used liquid cooling so it stayed at a stable temperature and never crashed. I sold you the i5 and the h50 for a few dollars more than an i5 itself sells for used on eBay, and I've been honest about everything thats been done to it as well as how its been kept. That being said, if you still wish to cancel the transaction, just accept the cancellation request so that I can relist the item, though I will be relisting for the same price that it was."

I've got the Phantom 410

Reply to xxbobbyfinxx

I'm all tears after reading that.... :( but so if life..... I'd rather cry just reading this, then have you come back to us at Tom's and then ask us why the rig is giving you problems and then finally us concluding that one of those parts has given way. Simply said, I'd rather , you didn't have a bad experience and let the seller find another buyer....

Yup, it'll mount fine on the underside of the top of the case, so, that means you're good to go... :)
