Gaming: Which component(s) should I upgrade?

Hello,
i want to upgrade my pc so that i can smoothly play new games like battlefield 3
my pc specs are-
core 2 duo e7500 2.93ghz
nvidia 9600gt 512mb graphics card
2x2gb 800mhz ddr2 ram
what should i do? Do i get a new graphics card or should go for core i5
i can afford only one of them-either a graphics card or core i5 processor
please help choose me.

bf3 needs the graphics more than cpu. what is your budget and monitor resolution?

GPU first I would say

GPU and OC the CPU. Should be able to get it to 3.8 ghz pretty easily. Will need a better cooler obviously. You will find your dual core cpu a limitation though in some games. Should be ok for BF3 especially if you OC it.
