Am interested in building a pc for my parents.

Every days use includes web browsing, e-mail and MS Office and that's about it.

Would appreciate reccos on a low cost chip that will move the machine along. Not interested in an Atom or anything in the mini itx realm.

Thanks!

No set budget amount.

Would like a recco on a chip that will move the machine along but doesn't have bells and whistles for things they will never use. Probably no different than a young kids first computer.

They have a mini itx machine now and it moves like a turtle.

Thanks

Hello awkiii_66;

Have you thought about a laptop as an option?

Laptop won't work.

They are up in years and the screen and keyboard are a little small.

Besides, I would like to look like a hero and build one for them!

Thanks

One of the current entry level Sandy Bridge CPUs & H61 MBs should do a good job with that workload.

Any bottom end chip from current architectures would be ok, cheap mobo. Low pentium, athon II.

for around 350 you can get a custom built i3 setup that will do everything you require..
http://www.computerplanet.co.uk/custom/pentium/step1.ht... look here and try a few builds to get an idea of what you can have for the money...
