Gents:
I just partially updated a legacy AMD/ASUS system with an INTEL 1240.v2, MSI_Z77A-gd55 and 16-Gig Crucial ram. Works mostly just fine under UBUNTU_12.04.
The case is a no-name_2001 full tower with two front panel USB ports that I never connected! After the upgrade I want to connect them. I tried, at mobo pins **JFP2** ... and the speaker works, but not the USBs ... zero response from them so wrong guess! Two dangling spare wires labeled +/- 5 volts!
BUT! I find no obvious mobo ports for the case-front wiring harness: that is nothing in the mobo manual points to a couple mobo-pins and says "front panel USB connectors". Can it be I must use the **JUSB1** connector meant for an add-on rear-unit? BTW: are all ( 1-->3) UBS wiring harnesses compatible? Any comments appreciated.
