GTS 240 Gaming GPU?

I'm planning to buy battlefield 3 for PC and other upcoming games.

But would a GTS 240 run Battlefield 3 (minimum settings)

I found System Requirements from a different Web and the Minimum settings said GTS 240 and max was GTX 460.

The GTS240 on a decent system should produce playable results for most games, including BF3. While it is certainly not a "gaming" GPU, it can play most games at medium settings and lower resolutions just fine. Good luck!

Lowest price I found on a GTS 240 was $70. If you can spare $20 more you can get a GTX 260 on Newegg for $99. The 260 would be a much better card IMHO, I have one but it's the GTX 260-216 model.

bare minimum settings... maybe. Not sure about your price range, but do yourself a favor and look into something a little better. I've seen some good deals for a GTX 550 Ti for around $100.. should get you medium graphics capabilities depending on your system specs.

Bah for that price go with a Radeon 5670 which is faster. To game though I would say you should get at least a Radeon 5750/6750 or a GTS 450 for around $100

no, a gts240 will not give you good FPS. I recently upgraded from an 8800gts, which performs similarly to a gt240, it was slow even at 1440x900 resolution. Its performance is equivelant to a 5 year old vid card.

No one knows where the official specs will come out. A 460gtx is only what people suppose it will be, but most of the test videos of BF3 were played with a 580 GTX (1920x1080) to max it out. I think that for the moment we just have to wait.

FYI - Beta is due any day now (September). I'm sure you will be able to find benchmarks all over the place if you want to hold out. You have to pre-order the game via digital download from Origin to gain early beta access.

You will not have a problem running this game. What resolution do you plan to game at?

Mainly for games e.g. BFBC2, Crysis 2 (which runs smooth on max without dx11, which gts 240 doesn't support) etc. i run the resolution: 1240x768 <-- {Mainly this.}
