Im trying to play some of the latest games I have. And they just perform so poorly. (The Witcher 2, Crysis 2, Dead Island, Dues EX)
I have q6700 3.2
4 gigs ram.
and these (2) Galaxy 60XMH6HS3HMW GeForce GTX 460 GC Edtion Video Card - 768MB GDDR5, PCI-Express 2.0, Dual DVI, Mini HDMI, SLI, DirectX 11, Fermi

Now do u think id get a better performance with just a single EVGA 015-P3-1582-AR GeForce GTX 580 SuperClocked Video Card - 1536MB GDDR5, PCI-Express 2.0, Dual DVI, Mini HDMI, SLI, DirectX 11

Thanks.

those games should perform ok with your setup, what resolution are you playing at? maybe you need to turn down some settings, AA will quickly kill the performance in demanding titles. There must be something else going on, maybe you need more ram, i would try that first as a cheap upgrade, get 8gb. make sure you have a good quality psu, that can cause performance issues if its not good enough.

I don't think there should be any problem whit two gtx 460's, I'd upgrade CPU/Ram/mobo instead of buying a gtx580.

Most GTX 580's can outperform 2 x 550 Ti's in SLI, so you would most likely see a pretty good performance increase.

A better CPU and RAM would also greatly improve performance, though.
