Is it necessary to clean where I've touched the motherboard?

Trying to get various little plugs and connectors to "click" into place I think I've had my grimmy hands on different spots on the back of the motherboard. Is that likely to cause a problem, the oils from my skin? Can it cause a short circuit or anything? Is there a way to clean the places where I've touched the back of the motherboard? Or is it necessary?

Getting this stuff connected is not as easy as I thought it was going to be. :(
