I have a 3 disk RAID 5 and one of the SATA ports on the motherboard failed. I've moved the drive to a new SATA port and it is recognized in the BIOS, but just as a single "new" drive. I do not see any options to set it as a hot spare or to re-configure my existing RAID 5 to include this "new" drive.
Motherboard: ASUS M4A88TD-M/USB3
Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1075T
Memory: GSKILL F3-8500CL7D-8GBRL R, 16GB
Video: GeForce GTX 660
1st RAID Array:
RAID 0: 2X Seagate Barracuda ES.2 ST3250310NS 250GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5"
(SATA 2 Jumper removed to enable SATA 3)
Created on SATA ports 5 & 6
2nd RAID Array:
RAID 5: 2X Hitachi GST Deskstar 7K3000 HDS723020BLA642 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"
1X eagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"
Created on SATA ports 1, 2, and 3
SATA port 3 on motherboard is dead.
Moved 3rd drive of RAID 5 to SATA port 4 on motherboard.
Does anyone have instructions for setting a drive as a hot spare in this BIOS or re-configuring an array to use a drive on a different port?
I've started and RMA process with ASUS, but being the weekend.... This is my wife's editing machine and, of course, she wants minimum down time
