my question is simple and straightforward. I haven't been keeping tabs on this new Rambus Ram or the Pentium 4's. I am noticing a general trend in new P4 systems having Rambus Ram. My questions is, do the new intel Pentium 4 chips only work with RDRAM or will SDRAM work as well. Replies can be sent to Halteh3@home.com

Any help is much appreciated
Thanks

As of yet, P4 supports Direct Rambus DRAM only but Intel (and VIA, don't tell Crashman about it) has plans to make DDR-SDRAM available to P4 in the near future.

ATI will be producing SDRAM chipsets for Intel, as per Intel's licensing agreement with Rambus that mandates that Intel produce only RDRAM for the P4. Intel actually opened up quite a lot of information to ATI to do this, as it was Intel's only way out.
