I have been looking for a flatpanel for my parents, their monitor just died. They basically use it for viewing websites (in chinese). And some video.
We first like the NEC LCD1760V but we saw that we could get a Viewsonic VG800 for close to the same price.
The brightness and contrast looked similar.
Then I read some reviews and saw that many people complained about the VG800 having alot of ghosting and streaking.
Then I saw the Dell 1800FP. Unlike the other two, this one also had a digital input. The brightness and contrast ratio was much lower than the other two. The response time was also higher, but reviews that I have read say that the monitor performs remakably well.
Here are the specs I have seen.
NEC 17" LCD1760V - Analog
Brightness - 260
Contrast - 450
Response - 16ms
Comments - All good
Viewsonic 18" VG800 - Analog
Brightness - 250
Contrast - 500
Response - 25ms
Comments - Some Bad
Dell 18" 1800FP - Analog/Digital
Brightness - 250
Contrast - 350
Response - 30ms
Comments - All great
I would appretiate any comments or suggestions about which monitor is better and which is worse.
I can get each one for around the same cost, so that is not an issue. Analog or DVI also is not an issue.
