Are all Cable modems the same in terms of performance? What kind of specs are important to look for when shopping?
We run a basic home network, two computers hooked up to a router, Comcast is our ISP. I noticed the price of cable modems vary a lot...

I want to save extra cash by buying our own cable modem stead of paying the lease on what Comcast provides.

A cable modem is a cable modem..

Make sure it's DOCSIS v2.. which probably 99.9% of everything on the shelf in a respectable establishment will have.
