I'm planning to upgrade my pc, i'm not looking for a max gaming set up, just a casual gaming...
the question is which set up would be better, if the i3 2100 with a evga gtx 550ti or the A8-3870k crossfireX with the 6670,
the motherboards and rams are similar in prices but the i3 setup would cost $100 more (where i live) so i was wondering
if i invest the difference to make a good OC to the A8, which option will be better then?

More about : 2100 550ti 3870k 6670

Video cards have more impact on games so the overclock on the A8 would not buy you much. The 550 Ti is much faster than the 6670.

I find it odd that the i3 costs more. I guess it is because it is more popular where you are. Here in the US, it is slightly less expensive. You may wish to look for the less popular i3-2120. I know it is slightly less expensive in a few markers. It is a bit faster than the 2100, but much the same for gaming.

Worst case scenario, is you could drop down to either a A8-3850, or even a Intel G840 which is a little slower than the i3. Any would still be a good combo with the 550 Ti.

thank you for the reply, the set up i3 and 550 Ti costs $100 more than the set up A8 and 6670, the difference in prices is mainly for the graphic cards

A 6770 would be comparable to a 550TI or do you mean you are getting 2X6670's to x-fire? To o/c the A8 would require an aftermarket HSF. Recommend: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... for $30.
So, I'd go for the A8 if you are going to x-fire the 6670's.

thanks for the advice... with x-fire i meant that i'll use the GPU of the A8 along with the 6670, the mobo doesn't support 2 graphic cards... so do you think A8 with 6770 will be better than i3 with 550?, in that case the price will be almost the same...

the 6670 with A8 will be more powerful than the 550 ti on dx11 titles and less powerful on dx9 titles.

Don't buy the i3 with the 550 ti if its $100 more. Its not going to be better. If you can find something with a better gpu and less powerful cpu it would be a lot better but as of now, the A8 is a much better choice.

also the crossfire with the A8 only works with 6670 or below so you shouldn't get a 6770.

Once you put a card which deativates the hybrid X/fire, the llano becomes rather irrelevent for a gaming machine. I would think the i3 with 550ti is sufficient for lite gaming.
