Is this overkill for 2-3 years of gaming, mainly putting it together for Skyrim, BF3 and whatever comes after that for a while... I leave for college in 1.5 years, anyway I can make this more cost efficient?

-Thanks guys

Save $70 on the case by using the HAF 912 , or the Antec 300 , or 300 illusion

The corsair TX 650 watt psu

saves you another $15

ditch the cpu cooler and save $25 . You dont need it , and can even OC using the stock cooler .
Besides OCing wont give you any performance gain for gaming anyway

Ditch the 2500K even and just get a 2500 . Save $10

This Asrock Mb is a full ATX board and saves you another $5

Saving you .............$125

I am confused as to why you chose a microATX mobo and a full tower case. You can get a great ATX mobo for the same price as that microATX. The advantage of an ATX is that you have more room for RAM expansion and more PCI slots.

m-ATX is not always a bad choice , but it is a little odd to buy a huge gaming case and a small mb .

The disadvantage of ATX boards is that you will probably never use all the slots . I gave up building my pc's out of ATX boards a while ago because there was never going to be 7 add in cards I would use

I guess the flip side is the OP could build using a smaller gase like Silverstones TJ 08e and have a much more portable system if he wants to use his original mb choice
